Connected Conversations Challenge

Public purpose meets public dialogue

The crisis of 2020 is calling for new kinds of public dialogue – across sectors, across jurisdictions, across professional disciplines and experience.

Further, the influencers at the ‘centre’ of shaping public programs need to hear voices from the ‘edge’. Urgently.

While the world pushes through a difficult period, at the same time we face unprecedented opportunities to re-shape how we talk, how we think, how we collectively respond for the common good.

The coming decade is set to be a decisive phase in our shared history.

The economic and social recovery from Covid-19 will be massive. Further, we continue to face the challenges of climate change. The fundamentals of democracy are under threat. And so much more.

Against this backdrop we have the massive mobilisation around the UN Global Goals counting down to 2030. Many of the world’s governments, corporations and civil society organisations are leading the charge for real and enduring impact during the decade.

Over this same period, Culture|2030 is an initiative to ensure that the ‘heavy lifting’ of strategic change-making is matched with uplifts in the human dimensions of shared narrative and community, of the ways in which we tell our stories and amplify our hopes and aspirations to each other and the world.

More than most years, the forthcoming annual United Nations Day on 24 October – “UN75”, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the UN in San Francisco – is also one significant opportunity to revitalise and reinforce our commitment to co-creating a better future.

So amidst the crises of 2020, the stage is also set for a new public dialogue – to explore the new ways we need to move forward, the new collaborative approaches to strategic change, the new public narratives we need to frame positive, productive responses to the challenges that face us all.

A new public dialogue requires a new kind of co-facilitator

During 2020, the X360.co public-purpose community is hosting an international coalition so that together we may deliver a ‘platform’ to engage and coordinate experienced group dialogue facilitators around new networked strategic conversations across the world, with a special focus during 19-25 October.

This program will also provide an opportunity for thought leaders and public-purpose change-making organisations to interact with these facilitators around new mindsets, new toolsets and new skillsets.

To ensure a practical localised focus, we are also reaching out to the leading city networks and local government associations to align opportunities for city and community relevance

Finally, over the next six months we will also be collaborating with leading social communication practitioners and professional networks to help amplify these 'new public dialogues'.

It’s that time.

To invoke the famous, perhaps overused, quote:

If not NOW, when?
If not YOU, who?
